Free Dyslexia Card

Do you wonScreen Shot 2015-01-31 at 11.47.09 AMder if your child has dyslexia?

Do you have co-op teachers, church teachers, scout leaders, or other adults working with your dyslexic child regularly, and you wish you had a way to explain some things about dyslexia to them?

Dyslexic Advantage has created a really nice graphic representation of the challenges and strengths of people with dyslexia, and includes tips for how to best help them thrive with learning.  This card is available as a free PDF download, or you can pay a nominal fee for printed ones to be sent to you. What a great tool to share with others!

The card is also available in Spanish here.

Something to Memorize when Things are Tough

I saw this and felt it was so peaceful and worth sharing.  I don’t know if it’s technically a poem (what *does* make something technically a poem, anyhow?), or perhaps it is a “meditation.”  Either way, it’s lovely and I wanted to share it with you.

“Let nothing upset you,
Let nothing startle you.
All things pass;
God does not change.
Patience wins all it seeks.
Whoever has God lacks nothing:
God alone is enough.”

~Teresa of Avila

Musical Monday: Music from Ancient Sumer

gather round

I came across this cool music!

Apparently clay tablets exist from the 14th century BC that not only have cuneiform, but also a version of sheet music!  While this certainly doesn’t apply music theory like we are accustomed to, we can get a glimpse into what this ancient hymn sounds like.  Of course the ancient Sumerians didn’t have a midi keyboard to play their tunes on, but this is pretty cool nonetheless.  Check it out:

Facebook Party Giveaway: Composer Study

Composer Study
Composer Study was the very first thing we offered, back when we first began Classical Composers Monthly.  Though our product offerings have expanded, parents continue to appreciate having easy-to-use resources that bring that extra oomph of goodness into their homeschool.  🙂

All of our composer study collections have been reorganized into chronological order, to make it easier for you to choose collections that match up with whatever time period you are studying.
