Art Contributes to Our Overall Health and Well-Being

I love this article! It explains how we benefit from art, music, and nature being a regular part of our lives!  Get printing your Fine Art Pages today so your entire family can benefit in body, spirit, and soul.

“That awe, wonder and beauty promote healthier levels of cytokines suggests the things we do to experience these emotions – a walk in nature, losing oneself in music, beholding art – has a direct influence upon health and life expectancy.”

DIY Lunch Stations

Running a household.  Homeschooling.  Errands and doctor’s appointments.  And meals.  So. Many. Meals.  Even if you enjoy cooking, the logistics can get overwhelming.  And lunchtime in the midst of a busy day of homeschooling can be tricky.  (especially if Mom might like an ounce of downtime to recharge!)

DIY Lunch Stations to the rescue!  Due to the popularity of her DIY Breakfast Stations, Kim at Not Consumed has created another great system to help us simplify and streamline our meals!

The idea is simple:  Do a little bulk-cooking session, and enjoy having 132-154 DIY-ready lunches ready to roll!  Lovely!  You can read more about it here.

Have you heard of Gelli Plates for Art? So fun!

If you are looking for something fresh and different for art, you may love this!  I learned about Gelli Plates about a year ago, and was so inspired that I could barely contain myself.  This is such a fun, creative way to make art without having to be technically perfect!  So really anybody can have success with this.  There is a lot of room for colors, textures, layering, and more.

If you are going to try the Gelli Plate, you will need a brayer like this one. These work really well, they can easily be set down so that they don’t get paint on your workspace, and they clean up easily with soap and water. They feel good in the hand and get the paint spread out really nicely, so you can use just a small amount of paint to get the effect you want.

This video gives you a small taste of how the Gelli Plate works.  There are zillions of videos on youtube that will show you many different ways to use this fun art medium.

We used Gelli Plates in the class I taught to homeschoolers last year, and it was really fun.  It’s fresh and different, and has just a zillion different things you can do with it.  For people that think they don’t have artistic talent, and for those that like a ton of freedom and flexibility while creating, Gelli Plates are a GREAT choice!
